Autoclave Aerated Blocks (AAC)

WHAT IS IT?

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) has been accepted and utilized for decades at the international level, not only as an alternative building material but as a preferred component. AAC has been used in large scale projects such as residential housing, schools, hospitals, hospitality, retail development, industrial and governmental buildings. At approximately twenty percent (25%) the weight of normal concrete/cinder block, light-block is unmatched in versatility and buildability.

AAC is a precast light-weight building material manufactured from a propriety mixture of fly ash, sand, cement, lime, gypsum and aluminum powder. The lightness is achieved by incorporating aerating agents into the mixture, or “slurry.” This mixture is molded, cut and steam pressure cured in an autoclave then cut to shape in specified lengths, widths, and profiles.

Light Weight

AAC blocks are approximately 67% lighter than traditional hollow concrete blocks. Less plaster is required during the construction process as compared to concrete blocks and clay bricks, thus saving more of the cement mortar. This results in lower freight cost and faster construction. In high-rise buildings, there is significant cost savings realized through smaller foundations.

Eco-friendly

AAC blocks are made from natural materials such as sand, lime and cement. They do not emit pollutants, toxins, or by-products. In fact, America’s Best Block is using the by-product fly ash as one of its blocks components, making its blocks even more environmentally friendly. The production process consumes fewer raw materials and energy than other masonry products. In short, it is one of the greenest masonry products available.

Fire Resistant

AAC blocks are non-combustible. They emit no toxic gases or by-products when exposed to fire and are fire resistant for 2-6 hours, depending on wall thickness. It is a perfect material for buildings built in fire zones or with fire-rated applications, such as elevator shafts and fire protection walls.

Insulation Detail

Thermal Insulation

Fly Ash AAC Blocks are excellent in containing heat within a structure. Because of this, AAC block is suitable for a wide range of uses, including external and internal walls, floors, roof decks, etc. Its insulating properties minimize the cost of heating and cooling and help maintain a comfortable environment no matter what the weather.

Mold Remediation

Mold & Pest Resistant

AAC is a solid, breathable, concrete product made with clean, inorganic materials and does not offer the nutrients needed for mold growth. Due to these properties, it is impossible for insects and rodents to inhabit in them. Without concern of termites and other insects damaging or inhabiting the AAC portion of the structure, chemical treatments can be reduced while maintaining the maximum protection against damage to the building.
